Advanced Filtering
Sentimonitor possesses a fairly extensive set of filters. While the most common filters are available to access directly on the left of the screen, by clicking Advanced Filters just above the Refresh button you can find the complete list of filters.
The following describes the filters available in this option.
-
Filtering by Source: allows that some networks are shown or hidden, which lets you analyse by individual social network. Note that only the networks added to that monitoring will be shown here.
-
Filter by language: allows you to filter posts that are marked with a certain language. For example, it is possible to show only the posts made in English and to hide those made in Portuguese.
-
Authors Details: allows the selection of specific criteria in relation to the authors:
-
By selecting Only Verified Authors, you can see the posts from authors with verified accounts only.
-
By selecting Only Authors with Personal Site, you can see only the posts from authors who have a personal site added to their profile (in general, this is either a personal website, blog or other social media profile).
-
Through the option Personal URL it is possible to filter only the authors that have certain words in the URL of their personal site. For example, it’s possible to filter only the Twitter users that have their blog linked to their profile, by entering
blogspot.com
.
-
-
Location: Allows searches to be made based on the author’s informed location. Note that this information does not always represent the real location where the authors are (the author can inform a fictitious location or a place with a typo). This option also does not account with location disambiguation (for example, the places “
RJ
and “Rio de Janeiro
” needs to be searched separately. -
Author location: Allows you to search for authors who mention a location in their profile. It is common for authors to add the location where they live in their profile. From this filter, it is possible to search for publications made by people residing in a given location.
-
Cited Location: Allows searching for locations present in the content of captured messages. Sometimes, a person may write a post about a location other than the location they are currently in, for example, in a travel wish. From this filter it is possible to search for these messages.
-
Annotations on Authors’ profiles: Allows you to search for customised annotations that can be made on authors (see “Edit Author”, 7. Revision of Posts and Authors). Upon using this filter, only the posts from author whose annotations match the criteria entered will be shown. If more than one annotation is searched for, all the annotations must match the filter to be shown. For example, if you add annotations about the job and education of the authors, you will be able to search for people with higher education in London by adding two filters: one with the title
Education
and the annotationHigher
, and the other with the titleCity
and the annotationLondon
. -
Revision type: Allows you to select posts which weren’t revised or that were were revised automatically, semi-automatically or manually (the process of revision will be detailed ahead, in this manual).
-
Revisors: Allow you to select only the posts that were revised by a certain person or that still haven’t been revised.
-
Active and deleted posts: Allows you to see posts that were eventually deleted
